The Guardian report on the latest twist from an unsavoury case:
‘Paul Stretford could be prevented from personally representing Wayne Rooney if he is found guilty of perjury following accusations that he lied in court.
‘Should the case be taken up by the CPS and Stretford convicted - which is by no means sure at present - he would be in contravention of Fifa's player agents' regulations, which state that an agent must be of "impeccable reputation". It could lead to Stretford being struck off the register of licensed agents.
‘"We have the power to remove an agent's licence," confirmed sources at the Football Association yesterday. The FA would have to take the case findings to the world's governing body Fifa and request an interpretation of the "impeccable reputation" clause but there seems little doubt over how Fifa would respond.’
