Ronaldo still has well over three seasons remaining on the five-year contract he signed when he joined the club but the NOTW says the player now wants an upward lift in his wage packet after establishing himself in the first team.
United have claimed there is no issue over any renegotiation:
'To suggest there are problems over a new contract is nonsense,' said United communications director Phil Townsend. 'Cristiano still has three and a half years left on the contract he signed when he joined us and no talks are planned.'
