Modric's alleged quotes aimed at the Portuguese World Player of the Year have come just three days after United's Carling Cup Final victory against Spurs at Wembley.

"He really overdoes the theatrical bits," Modric is quoted in the Daily Mirror.

"In England, where fairness is especially kept in mind and where a masculine, fair game is the law, such whining stands out even more."
