"Berbatov is a quality player and I think this coming season we'll see him come into his own. It's time for him to step forward and show what he can really do. With Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez gone, United will be looking for others to lead the way and I'm sure Berbatov can become the main man.
"It often takes players time to settle at Old Trafford and learn to cope with the expectations. Some very good players never made it at United. But I am sure Berbatov will prove himself a top player for United. He's been with the club for a year now, he should feel more comfortable and grow in confidence.
"With Ronaldo gone it's a great chance for him to demonstrate his talent and make his presence felt. I believe it can be a big year for him.
"It'll be interesting to see how they do together because they could be massive players next season. The gaffer likes to go in with four main strikers and he's obviously looking around because young Danny Wellbeck and Federico Macheda aren't 100 per cent ready yet. But if Rooney and Berbatov are his first choice strikers they've got to take on the responsibility of making up for the goals Ronaldo scored.
"Rooney will certainly be able to score more if he's not playing wide and tracking back so much. In my opinion, down the middle is his best position. He is capable of scoring far more goals for United. Berbatov certainly is. He's got the strength as well as the ability to hold up the ball, he can link up play and can score goals. It's up to him now to put it all together.
"The signing of Antonio Valencia gives United a different type of winger to Ronaldo. He won't score as much, but he is capable of providing service for the front two. The boss will be looking for people to give even more and challenge for trophies again next season and I've no doubts United will be up there again."
