"We definitely think we can still win the championship," Ferdinand told MUTV. "There are a lot of points between us and Chelsea but we've got to make sure we still get the results and keep winning the games we can win.
"We need to make sure if, towards the end of the season, Chelsea do drop any points we're ready to jump on them. They've still got to come here, they've got to play Arsenal. They've got some big games and there's still a glimmer of hope there.
"We're not going to give up because we know we have the ability to beat anyone on the day. If we keep playing to the standard we've been playing of late then we're always going to be in with a shout. Chelsea have been very consistent. They've been grinding results out and they're not conceding many goals.
"If Chelsea continue winning the games they've been winning and doing as well as they are then you've got to hold your hand up and say they've been better than us. We're hoping they slip up in every game they play but if we start thinking about them too much we won't be playing to the best of our abilities. We've got to keep our house in order. We just want to make sure we get the results we need and if they slip up then we'll be there to take the points."
