Speaking in the Sun, Rio Ferdinand has criticised the
International schedule over the summer:
"It's a bit baffling sometimes that we've got to travel so
far as we have. The whole fixture list is a bit baffling. If
you want to get the best out of players you need to give
them as much rest as possible.
"The PFA need to make a stand, talk to the players and hold
meetings with whoever is necessary and sort it out. Players
need to be fresh and fit. There wouldn't be a problem if the
last game of the season was on the Saturday then we had the
England one the next Saturday or the one after.
"I'm back at United on July 7 and we go to America on July
17. I've got about three weeks' break. I got more rest after
the World Cup."
