RIO APOLOGISES

There's a first time for everything and yesterday Rio Ferdinand apologised. Not for any of his previous misdemeanors but for calling Chris Moyles a 'faggot' on Radio 1

Rio Ferdinand yesterday called the DJ Chris Moyles a "faggot" live on air.

The DJ had been asking the defender who he thought more attractive of his team-mates Alan Smith and Paul Scholes.

Moyles, referring to the two players' nicknames, said: "If you had to, who would you rather go out with, Smudger or Scholesy?"

Ferdinand replied: "That is not my bag that, that is not my game, talking about going out with geezers."

But when Moyles, a Leeds United fan, jokingly said he would prefer Smith, a former Leeds player, Ferdinand said: "You're a faggot."

He quickly added: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm not homophobic."
