"You have to be playing regular first-team football to really have a chance for England.
"At the moment I’m not really playing regular club football, but it’s a long season so I am hoping that my chances will come.
"I’d like to be involved because the World Cup is coming up next summer. But all I want to do is play for Manchester United at the moment, because if I start playing well for my club then chances with England will follow.
"That is something I have been doing because when you are called into the team you have got to be ready. And I will be.
"I’m a midfield player and I prefer playing there, but in pre-season I played at left-back and I feel comfortable playing there."
