RED LEGEND CALLS IT A DAY
Former United striker and terrace hero Mark Hughes has finally taken the decision to retire from playing football. The decision wasn't entirely his as no club offered him a contract this summer. Hughes hopes to continue working as Wales manager in a full time role. He said,
"I'll be talking with the FAW during the next few days and I hope we can iron everything out. I'm ready for a new stage in my life and I am very excited about the potential of the Welsh squad. I know we've improved since I've been in charge."
Sparky was fortunate enough to have to spells at United with one being considerably more successful in terms of silverware than the other. Although he never managed to score more than 20 goals in one season, he is remembered as a scorer of classic, important goals.
