Fergie:

“It was a massive giveaway. It was a great performance, fantastic, but we just never killed them off. If you don’t finish teams off, things like that can happen. The players have been playing great football and on another day we might have scored five. But we dropped two points which we shouldn’t have dropped because we didn’t take our chances. It was a fantastic strike from the Fulham player but maybe we should have been over the sunrise and away before then.

"I think what makes it so bad is that both our rivals dropped points at the weekend. It was a great opportunity - and we haven't delivered. It was a good performance - some of the football was fantastic - but we just didn't finish them off.

"In fairness, it's a fantastic strike from the Fulham player at the end, but of course it is disappointing because on another day we could have scored four, five or even six goals given the chances we created.

"The one good thing is that the form is good, the confidence of the team is very good. We played some great football. But at the end of the day we've dropped two points which we shouldn't have dropped so we keep climbing that hill. The result has destroyed a really good performance by us"

Roy Carroll:

"Fulham really came back in the second half, especially after Andy Cole hit the post. We hit the post twice ourselves in the first half and we were disappointed not to. If we had put those two chances away then it could have been a different story.

"It was a good strike but I was disappointed letting in that goal inside the last three minutes. It was a killer blow, especially with it being so late on in the game.

"It was our chance [to reduce the gap on Chelsea], but it's gone now and we have to get on with it. It's hard, but we just have to move on. We're professional players and we have to pick ourselves up."

Chris Coleman:

"In the second half we kept fighting and we deserved something," said a proud Fulham boss. "After the break I wanted us to have a bit more shape. We dug in and were braver on the ball.

"When they didn't get a second they got nervous and we managed to score an excellent goal and earn a point. For us to get a point from such a quality team is all credit to my players.

"United look as though they are back on track for me. They will be pushing Arsenal and Chelsea close. I thought they were outstanding in the first half. Despite that, I still think it is Chelsea who will finish top. For us to get a point from such a quality team is all credit to my players.

"United were written off at the start of the season which was incredible. Sir Alex is building another team there. He's got some fantastic players and in possession sometimes they play scintillating football, you can't get anywhere near them. I still believe Chelsea will win it but United and Arsenal will push them all the way. United being written off, it's incredible. They are still a top quality team. The formation that they play with one up and two boys wide, it works really well for them with Paul Scholes pushing on. I think with Chelsea, from what I saw, they play the same system as Manchester United. I've just got that feeling for them. They believe in it as well that it can be theirs. I just think with the football that they play, they've got a big, big squad to choose from and they're playing very well under (manager) Jose Mourinho. I just think it's going to be their year this year"
