QUOTES FROM THE MANAGERS

SAF:

"I expected Chelsea to win. Portsmouth are in a bit of disarray, so Chelsea probably caught them at a good time.

"They are in blistering form and surely they can only throw it away. We have to believe they will hit a blip that lets us back into the race and we certainly won't give up the chase.

"You look at lost leads, and it can happen. But by the same token there are quite a few teams who have gone out in front and stayed there.

"We can only do what we can do - and at least we did our own job today.

"That was Cristiano's best game of the season," beamed the United boss.

"He was a real threat to them and scored an early goal for us - as he did at Exeter on Wednesday as well - so he is on target to achieve his aim now."

"Louis was terrific for us today," said the Scot.

"He is getting better all the time - but he needs games. Fortunately, there are plenty coming up."

O’Dreary:

"We got back into the game after going a goal down, but then had a mad few minutes.

"We overplayed for their second goal but could not legislate for the third.

"We had a chance to get back into it but Luke Moore tried to side foot a good chance in.

"I always come in with a positive outlook but realistically you do not come to pick up any points at Old Trafford, but that does not mean we are not going to try to take United on a win."
