Fergie:
"They were very hard to play against. They stopped the game at every opportunity, they slowed it down, Brad Friedel took an eternity to take a goal-kick and their gameplan worked very well.
"The first half we played excellent. We hit the post twice, two fantastic saves from Brad, one off the line and we could have been four or five up.
"The time-wasting was frustrating but it is up to the referee to do something about it. He only added on three minutes and there were five substitutions. It is ridiculous, he is making a fool of the game.
"You can forget Chelsea, that's for sure.
"You do not win league titles with performances like that. It is going to be very difficult for us now and second spot is the real priority for us now."
Giggs likely to be out of semi: "It went in his first sprint. Maybe a lot of it is down to travelling with Wales. It was a big blow to us because we were trying to protect Roy Keane and we had to put him on almost immediately."
On Ruud: "Ruud travelled to Romania last weekend and had another game on Wednesday, so they are coming thick and fast for him now.
"It is a hard schedule after such a long period out and he was looking very tired in the second half.
"To be honest, I am glad to get these internationals out of the way. The players are never the same when they come back to us and I just want to get them back in a Manchester United jersey again.
"I am going to pick a different team next week. There are one or two players like Louis Saha and Alan Smith who need a game and then we will see how things look for the semi-final."
Hughesie:
"We have just played Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United in consecutive games and we have picked up five points," he said.
"That is very satisfying for us. United had a number of opportunities in the first half but that is always going to happen at Old Trafford.
"But we defended our borders and might have even nicked it at the end."
