Fergie:

On Gaz Nev’s goal:

"I never thought I would be relying on Gary to get us a goal.

"That's two in one season now - I can hardly believe it." (Ed. not to mention two in a week and a close attempt at Portsmouth)

Re: RVN and Saha partnership:

"Because they have both had injuries, they have only had five games together.

"That is eight goals now, which shows what a goal threat they are."

"When Louis signed in January I felt Ruud and him would be a good combination and they are proving that but they have only made five starts.

"Ruud van Nistelrooy was fantastic up front. Both goals came from good play and there was a nice pass from David Bellion to Louis Saha for the first and he has kept up his goal scoring form which is good.

"Unfortunately Louis is cup tied so he won't be available for the FA Cup final."

About Saha’s injury problems:

"We are trying to get to the root of it.

"That is why we keep playing him. We are trying to find out whether it will hold up to games."

On CL chances:

"We have got to win our next two games which won't be easy - they are both local derbies - but if we do win them, the game against Chelsea could mean something."

Others:

"This is the best Charlton team that has come here in my time. They are very confident and look to play good football all the time, but we played some good stuff ourselves and there was a good goal threat about us.

"We had more penetration and young Bellion provided a threat for them on the left hand side. He has just got to calm himself down a little and once he gets that composure he is going to be a good player.

"On the other side Darren Fletcher gave a nice balance to the team we fought hard, we got aggressive in our play so I was pleased."

Gary Neville:

"Last week's was a better chance. The goal against Charlton just went across the goalkeeper and went in, but we defended well and I think the centre backs won us the game," said the modest goal grabber.

"I suppose my goal gave us an easier 20 minutes at the end and we have a big game coming up on Saturday against Liverpool. We have had four tough games in the last 10 days against teams who are all fighting for their lives for one reason or other, so it just let us ease off the pedal a little bit and relax."

On the disputed ‘non-penalty’:

"I did actually touch him but whether he ran into my leg or I brought him down I'm not sure.

"The referee didn't give it and I'm surprised he didn't give it actually."

Curbishley:

About ‘penalty’ incident: "I looked at it on TV and he could definitely have given it.

"It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if it had occurred for United because the noise levels would have gone up significantly.

"But it is so difficult for the referees. They have a split-second to make their decision and then it is gone.

"I don't believe in the video referee. Those decisions are part of the game. Without them, you don't have any talking points."

"We probably had more possession than we have ever had at Old Trafford.

"But we didn't really do anything with it. Halfway through the second half my big fear was what would happen to our goal difference because when you go two down against Manchester United, there is always the threat of an avalanche.

"In the end, we put up a decent show without looking like we were going to win the game.

"But this was always a bonus game. Now we have four games left and we need to win three of them. I think the race for fourth will go right down to the last game."
