Ronaldo last night cemented his status as English football's new Public Enemy No.1 by admitting: "I feel no sympathy for Wayne Rooney".

But the big question is now whether the Portuguese winker will ever return to Manchester United to face the music - and his furious team-mate.

Ronaldo's sickening conduct during Saturday's semi-final has surely brought his proposed move to Real Madrid a step nearer.

The winger knows he would face a red-hot reception in England after running to Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo demanding he take action against Rooney for the X-rated stamp on Ricardo Carvalho, then winking to the Portugese bench after England's hot-headed striker was sent off.
