Scholes scored on his debut some 700 games ago when he was 20, Powell has made a similar start to his United career, scoring on his first time out, but at 18, Powell is two years younger than Scholes was when he burst onto the scene.
Not only is there similarities to how they both debuted, Powell is also not one for talking to the media.
And Ferguson is happy about both, he told the Press Association: “Nick Powell is going to be a really good player.
“He has a great temperament, is two-footed and quick.
“He is a good physical specimen and has terrific vision. We hope Powell fills Paul Scholes’ boots.
“For an 18-year-old boy it has been a terrific day.”
