The news not many United fans want to hear may be coming our way as Blackburn don't want to have to wait much longer to sign Dwight Yorke.
Rovers could turn their attention to Robbie Keane or Eidur Gudjohnsen if United don't lower the asking price.
Rovers chief executive John Williams said: 'There's no change in the Yorke situation. We would like it to be sorted out as quickly as possible one way or another.
'United and have been helpful in our negotiations, but there is still clear water between the two clubs.
'We have several irons in the fire should the Yorke deal unfortunately not go through.
'We have transfer windows for the first time and we don't want to be caught out. If the Yorke deal does not come off then we have got to look at other areas.'
