PHIL WOULDN'T BE HAPPY ANYWHERE ELSE

Speaking ahead of the England friendly in South Africa, Phil
Neville has spoken of his desire to play as much as
possible, but only for United:

“I've played three quarters of the season in midfield
playing a special, defensive role there. It's got me a lot
of football but has worked against me at international
level.

“It's impossible to say to the manager that you only want to
play in one position because that would mean you'd only play
in half the games you should. The thought, `if I left
United, would I play more games and be as happy?' has
entered my head. I'd probably play more games but wouldn't
be as happy - because my friends and brother are at United
and I have feelings for the club.

“When I start games, I'm the happiest person ever. I don't
think I can have that at any other club. It's a difficult
one as people say I could play week in and week out at
another club and get 40 games.

“But I don't think I can have the same feeling when we won
the title last week with anyone else. And for me, happiness
is greater than anything else. The manager has never come up
and offered me to another club. He's always made it clear
how important I am for the team and the club. And as long as
he's happy with me I will always be happy at the club.”
