Phil Neville has given Wednesday's team a motivational push and urged them to try to break into the first team.

"There is a good spirit among the set of players who have been involved in the Carling Cup and who played on Wednesday," said Neville.

"We play Chelsea in a month's time and if we have any aspirations of doing well down there, the experience of a game in Istanbul should help.

"We all recognise the team which plays in the knockout stages in the Champions League will be hugely different to the one that played on Wednesday but our job is to push the lads in the current side and try get into the team.

"That is certainly my ambition and I will be training and working harder than ever to try and achieve it."

Neville yet again reiterated his desire to stay at Old Trafford despite his lack of regular action this season.

"I want to play more games," he said. "But I want to play them for Manchester United, no-one else.

"I haven't asked the manager to outline why things have turned out the way they have, it is not my style. All I will do is try to use any chance I get to impress him.

"There have been a lot of questions asked about my future but both myself and the manager have said it will be at Manchester United."
