With fallout from the Benfica game due to rumble on Edwin Van der Sar tried to explain how the players feel about being knocked out.
'The players are hurting,' He said
'Everybody feels terrible. Over the whole six games, we did not perform well and we have to take the consequences of that.
'It is obvious there will be pressure from the fans and the media but we have to stay compact as a group and keep everybody tight within the team.'
Shame the team weren't thinking that on Wednesday.
