OLD TRAFFORD TICKET WORRY

The Evening News reports worries from the GMP that the open
lottery for 7’000 tickets on UEFA’s website could lead to
trouble.

Chief Supt Alan Hutchings has admitted he has
‘concerns’ and has also said: "This form of sale doesn't do
football any favours."

However UEFA have defended their policy stating:

"The 7,000 tickets are on sale across the whole of Europe,
so there is a low-percentage chance of rivals being next to
each other. The final is a unique experience and those who
get a pair of tickets will want to watch the spectacle no
matter who gets through."

Andy Walsh of IMUSA manages to inject a touch of reality to
the matter by playing down the chance of any trouble:

"I wouldn't expect trouble at such an occasion”

However he is worried by the way the tickets are
distributed:

"They give small allocations to the clubs involved in
favour of corporate hospitality and backhanders to sponsors.
If they think tickets won't get into the hands of touts,
they don't live in the real world. My concern is that
tickets that should go to genuine fans are going to the
highest bidder."
