At first we thought that Johnny was to advise the Shalke physios on the layout of the sick bay or rehabilitation regimes but apparently Shalke are said to want him to play for them.
The German side have offered Johnsen a trial as it attempts to deal with an injury problem which has left them with just 13 fit players in time for the start of the Bundesliga season.
Johnsen has been joined by Spurs midfielder Oyvind Leonhardsen in the week long trial after both passed.
"The ability of the two players is proven, but coach Frank Neubarth wants to see what condition they are in and if they can help us," said Schalke manager Andreas Mueller.
