Football star Jonathan Greening talks to The Times:
“I’m much happier now. Leaving United is a big decision, because lots of people say, ‘Where are you going to go after Old Trafford? Your career can only go downhill’. But I was hardly playing any first-team games, so it was a risk worth taking.” Before arriving at The Riverside, Greening recorded 25 appearances in two years at York City, followed by 14 in four seasons at United. Winning a European Cup medal after being on the bench in the 1999 final against Bayern Munich was scant consolation for such inaction.
