The Telegraph report:
‘United are finally set to seal the signing of John Obi Mikel, according to reports from Norway. Mikel has arrived back at his club Lyn Oslo after being told by FIFA he must remain with the Norwegians until the end of the year.
‘The Nigerian, 19, signed for United in April but then claimed that he had done so against his will and wanted to join Chelsea. His announcement sparked a row between the clubs, with both claiming Mikel as their player.
‘Now Mikel looks to be on his way to Old Trafford. Lyn director Morgan Andersen said: "Manchester United want Mikel after the New Year, as it is stipulated in the contract, but now he shall fulfil the season with us. We are happy for that. The fight is over on my part. I am prepared for a fair and honourable relationship."
‘Mikel refused to shed any light on his future upon his return to training with Lyn, saying: "I am here to play."’
The Times have something similar:
‘Mikel, who is contracted to Lyn Oslo, signed a contract with United in April, only to claim that he had been “bullied” into the deal and that his preference was to play for Chelsea, with whom his agent, John Shittu, had been in regular contact during the previous 18 months. United resigned themselves to missing out on the teenager in July, when the matter was referred to Fifa. But Mikel has since been ordered to return to his Norwegian club, whose director, Morgan Andersen, suggested yesterday that the move to Old Trafford may be back on.
‘“I have been in touch with Manchester United,” Andersen said. “They want Mikel in January, as stipulated in the contract. He will spend the season with us and we are happy for that. The fight is over on my part. I am prepared for a fair and honourable relationship.”’
