From The People:
Roy Keane has turned his back on a £2million testimonial season at Manchester United.
Keane, 31, is about to celebrate 10 years at the club and was to be offered a benefit game by the club, probably against his boyhood idols Celtic.
It would have brought a sell-out 67,000 to Old Trafford, plus cash spin-offs.
But the £90,000-a-week Manchester United skipper has no plans to cash in because "he doesn't want to fleece the true United fans."
Keane's solicitor Michael Kennedy confirmed to The SP last night: "Realistically, a benefit game for Roy just isn't going to happen. It's just not on the agenda.
"Roy has never brought it up and I don't expect him to. It's not an issue for Roy."
A pal of Keane's told the SP: "Roy knows he's privileged to be earning so much money and doesn't feel it would be right to cash in on his career.
"He's earned a lot of money and doesn't want to throw that fact back in the fans' faces by squeezing even more out of them.
"It's not in his nature to lap up the limelight. When the time is right, he will wave goodbye to the fans and walk down the tunnel for the last time."
