NO, HE'S OFF TO EVERTON

From today's News of the Screws:

Roy Keane could make a sensational return to Old Trafford next Sunday — playing for Everton against Manchester United.

He will not insist on a clause that prevents him from facing his former team. And he believes he does not have to wait until January 1 to make his comeback.

Sport of the World understands Keane is fully fit and ready to return to first-team action, and will make up his mind this week.

Incredibly, David Moyes' Everton have now emerged as joint front-runners, alongside Celtic, to land Keane's services.

And Moyes will take his side to face United in the Premiership at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The very fact that Keane is ready to run out against his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson — particularly so soon after their recent split — will cause great concern for United.

A move outside the Premiership to Celtic is still Keane's preferred choice. But the financial package on offer in Glasgow has been dwarfed by other clubs.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and big Italian clubs Inter Milan, Juventus and Fiorentina have all expressed an interest in taking Keane abroad.

The Irish Examiner:

David Moyes confirmed yesterday he has held talks with former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane over a possible move to Goodison Park.

Keane, 34, ended his 12-year association with United last month and is expected make a decision on his future by Monday.

Toffees boss Moyes would only tell Everton's website: "I can confirm we have had talks with Roy Keane."

But there are still several options open to the Irishman, not least of which is a potential a short-term deal alongside former United team-mate David Beckham at Real Madrid.

The former Irish international's advisors said that he would make his plans known early next week.

Michael Kennedy said: "We should know by Monday what is happening with Roy."
Kennedy said Keane has been keeping fit since leaving Old Trafford and will be ready to make a return to action in January after a broken foot.

But he declined to comment on reports that he has been in Madrid holding talks with Real about a move to La Liga, where a six month contract has been mooted.
