United’s new man did not make much of an impact in his first game for the Reds, although he was only used as a sub in the 1-0 win over Amazulu in Durban last night.
Sir Alex Ferguson explained that he had not planned to use the Japanese star at all, but Hernandez was suffering with cramp in the second half of the game.
The new man eventually got on the field but he was waiting on the touchline for an annoyingly long time according to the United boss.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Fergie said: "Chicharito got some cramp and had to come off.
"I never thought the boy was going to come on. He must have been standing on the touchline for 10 minutes.
"It's amazing when there are so many stoppages in the second half, but it never seemed to go out when we wanted it to!
"He only came on because of Chicharito having cramp. I think he'll probably start on Saturday."
