Manchester United's troublesome Old Trafford pitch is due to be ripped up on
Monday morning after just two months of service.
United replaced a 20-month-old playing surface on 14 November which was
used for the first time nine days later in the 5-3 win over Newcastle.
Heavy rain throughout December ruined any chances the pitch had of
bedding in and Sir Alex Ferguson decided drastic action was necessary and
called in the turfing crews again.
