"We are pleased with the clean sheet but as England players we have to expect to score at home and we haven't done that.
"The biggest chance of the game fell to me in the second half and I should have taken it. It was a glorious opportunity and I'm really frustrated with myself.
"It felt like an open goal and I should have hit the target.
"Maybe I should have squared the ball to Wayne Rooney but I didn't see him until I'd already missed.
"If that had gone in it would have made life more comfortable for us and maybe they would have been forced to change the way they were playing.
"But they stuck to a system which made them very difficult to break down while remaining very quick on the counter-attack.
"We didn't underestimate Macedonia but we've got to give them credit. They played very well and deserved a draw.
"They were very lively at times and people would have been saying it was a great performance if it had come from a more well-known nation."
