NEVER HAPPY

There has been uproar following Ruud van Nistelrooy's guilty plea and the start
of his three-match ban. Numerous sources have complained that Ruud's
suspension has started too quickly and that by missing the Crewe game United
have 'bent' the rules. It's not really surprising that the whingers are the same
people that moaned about the slow FA procedures last season when Rio was
waiting for his FA hearing. Which in turn forced the FA into this new 'fast-track'
suspension procedure. So for all the post '96 'footy fans' out there an FA
spokesman has clarified the situation.

"Suspensions have never applied to just league games.

"The disciplinary system is applied to Premier League games, FA Cup games
and League Cup games."

Meanwhile Paddy Crerand has come to Ruud's defense and thinks Arsenal
should take a look at themselves.

“The challenge on Cole was high. He’s been punished and that’s that.

“But I do not believe for a minute he intended to hurt the player. Ruud simply is not that sort of player.

“To brand him as dirty is well wide of the mark.”

The Scot added: "Arsenal could have just shaken hands and accepted defeat,
they would have shown a bit of class. But they seem to lack that.

"The behaviour of Wenger and the team in the tunnel after the game sounds
horrendous.
"To throw food is like something a schoolboy would do."
