NAIVE AND FEARLESS

United chief scout Mick Brown has warned the players that Basel will not be afraid to come at United tonight.

This from the official site.

"We were aware of the fast starts that Basel make, and we made the players aware of it. I was away when the game was on and when the message came through that they'd scored so early I thought to myself, 'Thanks lads - that's really well done, that is,"

"They are very very lively going forward, and they commit players to attack in a naive fashion - but they are very dangerous. You can see why they would be a handful for teams."

"They've done really well to get to this level. But we've done the work that we needed to do so it hasn't got the significance it might have. But if you take your eye off the ball for a moment this lot can surprise you. It could be an entertaining game!" he said.

"They're new kids on the block - they're fresh. Don't be surprised if they get shots in on goal."

Brown believes Fergie will be doing the right thing if he fields some of the youngsters as United have already qualified and are looking for their eleventh CL win this season.

"The lads have done really really well - to have qualified for the quarters already is first class. The injury situation might give the chance for someone who doesn't usually play to get a game," he said.

"That's the wonderful thing that this competition can do, to give someone the chance to show the manager what they can do."
