Ninth place is unacceptable for the Champions and a stunning change could be about to take place. Manchester United is believed to have had a ?Plan B? up their sleeves ever since Sir Alex stepped down, just in case the club was unable to cope with his departure; and this is exactly the case at the moment.
Recent stories emerging from Old Trafford have revealed quite unbelievably that Sir Alex may be back in charge on a short-term basis very soon, if the Champions? recent form continues to be well below par.
Even though the board publicly backed manager Moyes a few weeks ago, since then their league form has dipped even further and now United are languishing down in ninth position; all but out of the title race and we haven?t even begun the busy Christmas period yet.
Back to back home league defeats have piled the pressure onto Moyes, a pressure the Scotsman would have never experienced before. More and more critics are emerging, questioning his ability to manage a top club, and if sources are correct and United?s form doesn?t improve rapidly. Moyes could be looking for a new job in the next six weeks or so. This just proves how crucial this Christmas period is for both Moyes and United?s future.
An uninspiring Christmas by United and the Premier League may well see its prodigal son, Sir Alex, returning on a short term basis to steady the ship, which we all know would happen were he to make this dramatic comeback. He seems to be a permanent fixture in the stands these days and it makes you wonder how much he misses being on the touchline. So did he leave United prematurely? Is he coping well with all his new found leisure time? Would he like one more crack at overtaking his league rivals? Surely the answer is yes?
If Fergie returns to United, which obviously many will struggle to even consider; we can expect the second half of the 2013/2014 season to be a memorable one, no matter what the outcome?
