The Mail reports:
'Wayne Rooney has been hit with a writ served by solicitors acting for Everton manager David Moyes. Rooney is being sued for allegations made about his former boss in his autobiography, Wayne Rooney — My Life So Far, published last July.
'The action comes with United poised to face Moyes' men at Goodison Park next Saturday for a lunchtime kick-off crucial to their hopes of winning the Premiership.
'Moyes is seeking £300,000 damages from his former striker over allegations made in the book. The Everton manager is said to be hurt by claims, documented in the libel writ, from a chapter entitled 'I Don't Want to Play for You Ever Again'. Rooney alleged that his ex-boss leaked private discussions between the pair relating to the striker's use of prostitutes.
'Rooney claimed the dispute was the reason why he shocked Everton fans by controversially quitting his boyhood idols to join United in August 2004. A spokesman for Rooney declined to comment last night.'
