Sir Alex Ferguson on the new addition to the backroom staff:
“Carlos has brought a new look to preparation which we used
to be quite relaxed about. I had always taken the view that
the lads spent a lot of time in hotels and maybe it wasn't
best before every game
"But Carlos introduced it and the players have thrived on
it. They have loved it. They feel rested before big games.
The main influences he's had is the training and
preparation. The ideas he's brought to the club have been
terrific. He uses his own initiative and just gets on with
it.
MORE PRAISE FOR QUEIROZ
"You can bounce ideas off him. He has great ideas and we
always have refreshing meetings. It wasn't necessarily
continental ideas we wanted bringing in. He has brought
modern ideas that most countries would embrace. The great
value is his command of languages and being able to get his
message across to everyone. With so many countries
represented these days in our squad it can be a problem
sometimes. I have a small amount of German and French but I
needed someone like Carlos.

"English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian - he has
been brilliant at getting messages across and talking to
players."
Fergie also praised Queiroz for his tactical decision ahead
of the match with Arsenal at Highbury last month:
"Carlos was convinced they'd play Sylvain Wiltord and I
wasn't. I thought they'd go with Dennis Bergkamp. His ideas
on why Wiltord would play were interesting and he was right.
These things can make a difference.

"Sometimes I have a view of how a team will always play
against us but someone else has got a view. Carlos explained
it and convinced me we'd be doing the right thing. It was an
important issue and proved what a great appointment he had
been."
