MORE ON TICKET CUTS

The story broken on Red Issue yesterday gains momentum. IMUSA have aimed a pre-emptive strike at any such attempt to cut our allocations:

"We have been told that United supporters fared 'really badly' when their behaviour was graded at a recent Premier League safety meeting, which we believe to be totally unfair," said Mark Longden, spokesman for the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association.

"Persistent standing in all-seater stadiums poses virtually no risk to supporters, certainly not as much as jumping up when a goal has been scored, and that has been proven in the report Trafford Council commissioned on the matter.

"It seems the football authorities prefer to ignore the evidence because it suits their political stance on the subject of all-seater stadiums, ignoring the fact that many supporters would like the option of being able to stand.

"It also gives them a convenient scapegoat because it appears Manchester United supporters are the only ones who are 'punished' for standing at games, when it is an issue across the whole spectrum of the game.

"Why for instance, did we have our allocation for the semi-final reduced when the Arsenal supporters also stood for the entire game.

"The whole issue needs opening into a proper debate and the facts need to be heard because at the moment all we are getting are knee-jerk reactions that only seem to affect one club."
