MORE FROM DIEGO

How much of a relief was it to get that first goal?

It was nice, as it's always nice to score. It would have been better if it has been a goal in open play rather than a penalty, but penalties can be saved or missed so they still count as goals.

The fans went mad when you scored - what do you think of the support shown to you by the supporters?

They're been incredible. Since I came here everyone has been magnificent - the whole crowd singing my name, the staff here at Carrington, the players. It's great.

Where do you think your best position is?

I like playing upfront. When I was growing up sometimes I played just behind two strikers and that was OK. But for the last four years I've been upfront. That's my favourite position.

What have you learned from Sir Alex Ferguson?

I learnt a lot from him, and from the other players too. It's an honour to be in the team that he's coach of. He tells you things out on the training pitch that come in very careful. He's different to what I thought of him from seeing him on TV. He's serious on TV, but nice really. If he needs to tell you off he will do, but that's OK. You can speak to him and if you need something he will help. It's good to have a manager like that.
