A story appeared on the Charlton website yesterday
concerning the reduced ticket allocation for our game there
on September 13th. Apparently the decision to reduce the
allocation was not taken by Charlton but by Greenwich
Council and the London club appealed against this. The
upshot of this appeal is that the allocation has been
reduced by only 600 tickets, from the usual 3’219 to 2’618.
Charlton are now taking the matter to court in an attempt to
have the full allocation awarded to United.
MORE CHARLTON TICKETS
United’s official site still claims that only 1’000 tickets
are available but a phone call to Charlton’s ticket office
has confirmed the good news; the official site will no doubt
be updated in due course. The bad news on the site is that
Charlton have decided that to cover the loss of revenue for
the 600 missing seats, they will increase prices for United
fans to £45 adults, £35 seniors and £30 juniors.
Charlton chief executive Peter Varney said: “It is
unreasonable for us to be penalised so harshly for the
actions of another club’s supporters, and as such we have
very reluctantly taken the decision to recover our costs
through increased pricing for away supporters.”
