United's Champions League opponents and reigning Italian champions AC Milan lost 1-0 at home to Bologna.
Having lost away at lowly Livorno last weekend Milan are now eight points adrift of Juve, who beat bottom-placed Atalanta 2-1. Worse news still for Milan was that Andrei Shevchenko was forced off the field after 38 minutes with a gashed right ankle. The Ukranian will undergo further medical checks today.
