Reuters report on an odd final day in Mexico’s first
division. Cuernavaca drew 0-0 at home, and due to a mistake by
the stadium announcer they thought that they had avoided
relegation, completed a lap of honour and had midfielder
Jernez carried shoulder high by jubilant supporters. However
journalists at the match soon corrected the error and the
joy turned to despair.
However Puebla did survive but there were no celebrations
for their players as 1’000 angry supporters gathered outside
the dressing room to insult them as they left.
