Neville said: "We have three games before the FA Cup tie against Portsmouth and we have to win all three, it is as simple as that.
"If we get nine points on the board, who knows where we will be."
Neville, like Ferguson, said that missed chances at vital times cost them at Blackburn - but he refused to pin the blame on chances squandered by striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
He said: "Ruud has stuck so many away for us you can't blame him for this defeat.
"We just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net and you have days like that. When you come to difficult grounds like Blackburn you have to capitalise and take your chances when you are on top.
