Fergie:
"I don't think we've had a harder away game all season - Wigan were brilliant, absolutely terrific.
"They didn't deserve to lose - it was so unlucky for Pascal Chimbonda, he couldn't do much about it in the end.
"We were poor in the first half but we improved and then gambled. I'd have settled for 1-1 as they were so good.
"That was a very important one. I don’t think we’ve had a harder game away from home this season.
"In the first half we were poor, defended badly and were lucky to go in 0-0.
"After they scored, we started to play. But it looked as though it was petering out for a draw."
Neville:
"It was a big three points from an extremely hard game. It was a battle and we were made to work really hard, and in the first half they were on top.
"It’s the best way to win a match because there’s no comeback from it. They got the goal but it kicked us into life. We were fortunate to win it. You’ve got to be realistic and say with the chances and the way they performed, Wigan were unlucky. But we’ve had our own disappointments this season."
Jewell:
"Two poxy goals. They’ve had one shot on target all night and they’ve won 2-1. Explain that one.
"All you can ask is that your team give you their best.
"Maybe they didn’t in the final, maybe the big stage got to one or two of them, but tonight I can take [defeat] because if we play like that from now until the end of the season, I think we will get into Europe.
"At the Millennium Stadium it was an open game, but tonight we were right in their faces. We can’t go to Sunderland on Saturday and bask on the back of a glorious defeat. We have got to make sure that effort and determination sees us right through to the end.
"I think if we do that we will get into Europe. I’ve never said that before but I really do.
"It goes to show how well we have done that they had a £19 million striker coming off the bench."
