Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that Mason Greenwood has been released on bail pending further investigation.
The Manchester United forward was initially arrested on Sunday on suspicion of rape and assault.
Police were granted more time to question the 20-year-old on Monday, before he was further arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
The force have now released a statement confirming that Greenwood has been granted bail.
"A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation," the statement read.
Man Utd confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that Greenwood will not return to first-team activities for the time being.
“Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind. As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice.”
Nike, Greenwood's primary sponsor, have also suspended their working relationship with the forward.
