Mason Greenwood Names the 4 Fastest Players at Manchester United

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has named his four fastest players at the club -surprisingly leaving out Welsh winger Daniel James.

United's focus on integrating young players has brought a number of speedsters into the squad this season. Among the fastest is James, who has previously been clocked at near-world record speeds.

However, there was no place for the Welshman in Greenwood's dream 4x100m relay team. The striker told Soccer Bible that he would choose Marcus Rashford to run the final leg instead.

"That’s hard because we’ve got some really fast players. I’ve got to have Marcus Rashford on the last bit, Brandon Williams too, he’s rapid, Anthony Martial, and probably Diogo Dalot, because he’s very fast as well," he said.

Having said that, it was then pointed out that Greenwood had omitted both himself and James from the lineup.

"Oh yeah...can it be 6x100m?" he added.

Greenwood's relay team might not have what it takes to win a gold medal at the Olympics, but it would definitely be interesting to see whether any team in the world could keep up with United's squad of youngsters.

As noted back in September 2019, the fastest player at United is actually 17-year-old forward Deji Sotona, who was clocked running at 22.9 mph during speed tests at United's Carrington training ground.

Dalot and Rashford finished second and third respectively, while James had to settle for fourth with a speed of 22.07mph.

As no slouch himself, Greenwood's speed has helped him net ten goals for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's senior side, and the 18-year-old admitted he was happy to see his goalscoring carry over from youth level.

"It’s been good to play in some massive league and cup games with the first team, but I’m still doing the same things that I was doing in the Under-23s and youth teams," he said. "I think I have to trust the things that have got me to where I am and continue to try to do them in the first team."
