Manchester United are known admirers of the Denmark international and have kept a close eye on his progress at Ajax, sending scouts to watch the 20-year-old attacking midfielder on a number of occasions.
Eriksen's contract keeps him at Ajax until 2014 and has previously stated that he is happy with the Amsterdam club but is now looking increasingly likely that the starlet will leave in a bid to take his career to the next level.
"We would like Christian to sign a new contract with us, but it's not something he wants," Ajax director and Arsenal legend Marc Overmars told Sporten in Denmark.
"We will see what happens after this year. We speak with him and his agent and we will see what happens after December."
Manchester United may have to act fast if they are to secure the services of the potential world beater, as interest from other clubs, including mega rich rivals Manchester City, could heavily inflate Eriksen's price tag.
Although a bid of around ₤15 million could be enough to tempt Ajax into selling the youngster, amid fears he could leave for free if the player doesn't sign a new deal and runs down his contract.
