Defender Anton Ferdinand will miss QPR's Capital One Cup clash against Reading on Wednesday night due to a hamstring injury.
Jose Bosingwa suffered a hamstring problem against Tottenham on Sunday and is unavailable, while Armand Traore (leg), Andy Johnson (knee) and Fabio (hamstring) are also absent.
Stephane Mbia and Adel Taarabt are fit after recovering from their respective groin and hamstring problems, while Kieron Dyer may start his first match since the opening day of last season after impressing as an early substitute at White Hart Lane.
Dyer insists he never thought about quitting football during his latest nightmare spell on the sidelines.
Dyer played 90 minutes of Barclays Premier League football for the first time since November 2010 on Sunday when he replaced Jose Bosingwa in the opening stages of QPR's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham. Before the game Dyer had only played 24 minutes of top-flight football for Rangers since signing for the London club on a free transfer.
"If it had been a repeat of my hamstring injuries then I would have worried about my career, but the injuries I had last year were just freak ones," Dyer said. "Not once did I get down. I just thought that if I get another chance then I'm going to prove everyone wrong. I got a lot of messages of support and the new contract was a huge vote of confidence for me.
"Neil Warnock was devastated when I got the injury. He said to give it a few weeks and then we'd sit down and talk about the future. But then there was a change of manager and Mark Hughes pulled me straight away and said he wanted to give me another chance.
He said: `I want you to get fit and next season we're going to give you another chance because I've played against you in the past and I know what you can do'."
Reading boss Brian McDermott admitted his players have yet to reach the level of performance he knows they are capable of producing, but is hoping that changes when they travel to QPRy.
The Royals have yet to win in the Barclays Premier League this season and sit bottom of the table with just one point.
"We are still not at the level I know we have got to get to and we can get to or where we have been in the past," he said. "We are all aware of it, the players and the staff, and if we can do that and do what we have to do, the results will follow.
"Fundamentally I just think in the last couple of games we haven't done ourselves justice and that is what is galling for me because I know we are better than what we have shown in the last few games.
"The players know it, we all know it and that is something that we work together on starting tomorrow night.
"I just feel that the shape of the team hasn't been right, we need to work on that and we will do that. When we haven't got the ball generally we are as good as anyone in the country, our shape is very good and we have pace on the counter-attack."
McDermott will look to give some of his squad players a run-out while Mali winger Jimmy Kebe could make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a hamstring problem.
Jason Roberts (calf) and Adam Federici (knee) are the two players unavailable to McDermott although the former could return at the weekend.
