Manchester United have revealed their new home kit for the forthcoming 2022/23 and it is certain to divide opinion.
The jersey sees a return of the polo collar that has featured on several iconic United strips of the past.
The white collar features crocodile-teeth like detailing as well as a single button at the base. Another interesting detail is the badge, which is encased in a shield.
A press release from the club read: "Today, Manchester United proudly launches the club’s home kit for the 2022/23 season. The iconic polo-collar design returns for the first time since 2015, when our latest partnership with adidas began.
"With performance, comfort and the club's heritage at the forefront of its design, the 2022/23 home shirt features a stylish patterned polo collar, which bears resemblance to some of the club's most memorable kits throughout history.
"It’s also a subtle nod to some of our former greats, whose unique style on and off the pitch made their kit their own."
It continued: "Throughout the years, a number of United kits have featured polo collars, and many have cemented their status as cult classics. The collar is deeply rooted into the legacy of this great club, and so are many of the legendary players who have worn them too."You see, jerseys are so much more than the sum of their parts. They’re moments in time and allow for memories to be made that are cherished forever.
"Inspired by our catalogue of great kits, the white collar features an evolved red geometric design, which references the symbolic ‘M’ detail which featured in our third kit from last season, and the famous ‘Snowflake’ jersey from the 1990-1992 seasons."
United's first outing in their jersey will be on Tuesday 12 July when they travel to Bangkok to take on Liverpool in a glamorous pre-season friendly.
