Man Utd announce retained list & confirm player departures

Manchester United have announced their retained list heading into the 2022/23 season, while they have also confirmed the players who will not be offered new contracts and will leave the club.

First-team stars Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani are off to find new homes though had all been confirmed to leave prior to Friday's announcement. Backup goalkeeper Lee Grant is also on the way out, having recently confirmed his retirement aged 39.

Academy players D'Mani Mellor, Reece Devine and Connor Stanley have not been offered new deals but United are working to help find new clubs. Goalkeeper Paul Wooston has been forced into retirement with injury but remains in contact with the Red Devils regarding future support.

Paul McShane, who acted as a senior player for the Under-23 side, will retire from playing but will continue coaching United's youth teams.

United have triggered an extension clause in Wales international Dylan Levitt's deal following his loan spell north of the border with Dundee United, but the club expect Slovakia U21 midfielder Martin Svidersky to leave despite being offered a new contract.
