LORD SNOOTY GETS LUCKY
Perform disgracefully against Crewe and Southend and be rewarded with an international call. Who said Ingerlund are shite? From the Guardian:
Jermaine Jenas has become the seventh player to pull out of what was originally a bumper 28-man England squad for Wednesday's friendly against Holland.
The Tottenham midfielder, who was hoping to win his 16th cap in Amsterdam, reported for duty last night but has been sent back to his club for treatment on a calf problem.
Unlike previous withdrawals Steve McClaren has called up a replacement for Jenas - Manchester United's Kieran Richardson, who was the only player involved in last month's defeat to Croatia not to be included in his original squad.
Richardson had been demoted to the England Under-21 squad for Wednesday's clash with Holland in Alkmaar but McClaren's decision to reinstate the winger is a clear show of faith in a player who has endured a troubled time with Manchester United over the past month.
