Christian Benteke has scored 19 goals in the league this year and at times has carried Villa on his back. Arsenal and Tottenham look to be the front runners in gaining his services and both are in need of a striker. The only down side here is, Benteke has had a great first season but is he a ?one season wonder?. If he comes at a good price, then both teams would be willing to take the chance. I don?t see Villa letting him go cheaply though.
For the last few months there has been much talk about Radamel Falcao moving to Chelsea. Yesterday, a bomb was dropped as Monaco announced that they were on the verge of signing Falcao for a reported ?50 million transfer fee. Real Madrid still has an outside chance but they will be hard pressed to drop that kind of money while trying to hold on to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Wayne Rooney will surely be gone from Manchester United this season but who will be able to afford him. Barcelona and Real Madrid do not seem to have much interest in him. PSG and Monaco do, but would Rooney be willing to move to France and play in a lesser league? There is talk that Chelsea and Arsenal would both love to sign him but which will be willing to give up a huge transfer fee and pay Rooney?s overinflated wages? United are not ones to sell top players to other Premier League teams but if the price is right, then there is a chance. Who knows, this money could then be used to bring Cristiano Ronaldo home.
Carlos Tevez is again asking to move and it is said that big spending Monaco are the front runners. With Roberto Mancini now gone and most of his staff with him, expect a mass exodus away from Eastlands. With a new manager and this set of players not being able to perform together, the front office are sure to clean house and start anew. Players such a Dzeko, Barry, Richards, Nasri and Lescott could all be gone at the start of the new season.
This is setting up to be the transfer window that will be talked about for years to come. Hopeful it will not disappoint.
