"We know we will get a few kicks. That's how they've played in the last few matches and we know it's how they will approach this game as well, so we've got to stand up and stand our ground."They play a physical game against us because they know we're not as physical as them in all the positions. We try to play football and we need to be allowed to play football.
"Our football is to play the ball on the floor and do it in a technical way. It's important that we concentrate on that and don't get carried away.
"But at the same time it's important that we stand up to them and if we get kicked about a bit, we mustn't get scared of them."
"It's not just about van Nistelrooy," said Ljungberg. "There have been a few incidents. Some of them have been official, and some of them haven't - and I have no comment about tunnels!
"When you look back to the big thing at Old Trafford two seasons ago, with Martin Keown and all the fines and suspensions we got from that game, as a team we felt we weren't treated that fairly.
"We all stood up for each other and I feel we grew from that together. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do but we showed that we were willing to stand up for each other.
"The last 10 years it's been us two fighting. It builds up the rivalry of course.
"But for us, after all the things that happened at Old Trafford, when they were quite physical against us, it's important that we don't let them play in the same way.
"There were so many incidents in that game that hurt us more than the result itself. Of course there was the thing with van Nistelrooy and Ashley Cole, what Rio Ferdinand did to me as I was running through and then the penalty that wasn't even close to being a penalty.
"At that point we felt we were taking over the game and were going to do quite well. Losing in that manner was very frustrating."
