LEGEND
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to extend his Manchester United career beyond the end of his current contract in 2006. After two major knee operations, Solskjaer is hoping to be back in action for the start of next season, by which time he will have spent virtually two years on the sidelines.
The popular Norwegian striker had originally intended next term would be his last before he headed home to Scandinavia. However, given the amount of time he has been out, the 32-year-old is in no hurry to call time on his career.
So, providing he eventually gets the all-clear to start playing again, Solskjaer is determined to prove he is worthy of another deal.
"If the comeback goes well and the knee holds, I would like to play football a few more years for United. Originally I had planned to retire after the 2006 season but now I have a hunger for football that I have never had before.
"I get a bit intimidated by all the expectations around my comeback. I will just do my best.”
